The #1 Dryer Problem We See: It’s Not Heating
By a wide margin, this is the call we get most. You hit start, the drum spins, but the clothes come out cold and wet an hour later.
A few things can cause it. A blown thermal fuse is the most common, and it’s usually a $20 part. Heating element gone? That’s a bigger job but still doable. Sometimes the issue is a thermostat or a control board.
We don’t guess. The tech checks each part, finds the actual cause, and tells you what the fix costs before doing anything.
Other Dryer Problems We Repair
Takes forever to dry. Usually a heating issue or restricted airflow. We’ll diagnose which.
Won’t start at all. Could be the door switch, the start switch, the thermal fuse, or the control board. We’ll find it.
- Loud noises — banging, squeaking, grinding. Drum rollers, idler pulley, or belt. These wear out. We replace them.
- Drum won’t turn but the motor’s running. Almost always a broken belt.
- Stops mid-cycle. Usually a thermal issue. The dryer is overheating and shutting itself off as a safety. We’ll figure out why.
What We Don’t Do
We don’t clean dryer vents. If your dryer isn’t heating because the vent is clogged with lint, that’s a fire hazard, and you need a vent cleaning company — not us. We’ll tell you if that’s what we see, but we won’t pretend we do that work.
